Welcome to Almosta Ranch - home of the Petersens- Will, Erik, Ross, Diane and Charlie

Diane and I found ourselves at Almosta Ranch in 2009 after visiting Steamboat for ten years. We told Diane’s father that “this is our ranch”, and he replied “you mean this is almosta-ranch”. The name stuck.

We have created this site for family and friends and hope to build it up as time goes by. You might find your picture here.

Our 5 horses are all American Bashkir Curlies. They are curly for sure, but also hypoallergenic for those like Charlie who would sneeze and wheeze otherwise. We have 5 goats as well which makes for a crazy amount of activity!

Joey was the first adopted horse into our family. Notice the curls!

We board CC a ranch away (within eye sight) so she can practice indoors in the winter as well.

Joey is gleeful in the fresh hay of Spring time while Elmer looks on.

Mr. Perfect hurries down to the pasture not to miss out. We wears a sheet in the summer to protect his light skin…

Chippers is our most recent family member from a few years ago. He too is a curly horse, so anyone with allergies will love him.

Meet our kids, five of the cutest girls!

We adopted five kids, girls, and they have been a delight. Eva, Bunny, and Nanna are black colored. Their mom was a Lamancha and dad a Nigerian Dwarf. Hershey and Kiss are brown and their mom was a Lamancha and dad an Alpine. They are cuddly and cute as you can see!

This is our “trouble kid” Eva. She wonders about and is the last to come in when we call her. Hershey is just behind her.

It is a goat’s world

Our girls enjoy a home just outside the horse barn. They can cuddle up in their “goat condo” which we created just for them, or run free. During the summer we let them roam in pasture secured by electric netting. They tend to get into everything that is not pinned down! Below are Nanna and Bunny enjoying grain in their condo.

There is never a dull day when you have horses, goats and dogs running about…. Below we see Diane and Elmer Johnson climbing the hill behind our house after a nice few hours on a trail ride. Here they come!
